My statement for the first Design-A-Bin contest submission is about educating those who are in the street for job training. I chose to do this because educating gang members to stay off the streets can help them learn from their mistakes and pursue a better future. The young man is in an urban setting, standing by an abandoned house.This spoke out to me because in the past, I approached a gang member and explained how being in school or having a good job is better than risking your life on the corner of a street. So this is why I chose to paint this picture, to show job training and how the Salvation Army provides this kind of service and aid.
